Itinerary

Make your own way to Zurich in Switzerland. We'll meet you at the airport and transfer you over the border into Austria, where your hotel is located in the medieval town of Feldkirch. Get to know your travelling companions over a welcome drink before a four-course dinner this evening.

Overlooking your base of Feldkirch is the imposing Montfort's Schattenburg Castle, which is now a fascinating museum.  This morning we'll enjoy a sightseeing tour of Feldkirch and visit the castle, which belonged to the counts of Montfort from 1190 to 1375.
This afternoon we head to Vaduz, the the capital of Liechtenstein, which is famous for its wines. Enjoy a stroll through the town and perhaps pause to sample a glass or two of the local produce. In the Swiss canton of Appenzell we will have plenty of time to admire the pretty Appenzell villages, where traditional houses are characteristically decorated with colourful murals and the peaceful streets are free from traffic.

The Walser Valley in the Bregenzerwald region is relatively unspoilt and boasts spectacular scenery along with a welcoming spirit. The Bregenzerwald Cheese Route is a one of the area's best attractions - it is not a route as such but a network of cheese producers scattered throughout the region. We will make a stop at a dairy in Schoppernau to learn all about the cheese-making process and, of course, we'll try some of the produce for ourselves. Later we will call at Diedamskopf, the highest point in the region, where, if you would like to see more, you can opt to take a cable car ride to the top of the mountain.
After time to admire the spectacular views we will make our way to one of the schnapps distilleries here to see how this alcoholic drink is made, and sample the finished product. We'll then drive on to the village of Schwarzenberg and to the top of the Bödelepass. From this excellent vantage point we will be able to take in wonderful views, so have your camera at the ready.

Lake Constance is a huge freshwater lake located on the River Rhine and surrounded by affluent towns. From the German shore it is framed by a dramatic backdrop of Swiss mountain peaks.
Our first stop on today's optional full-day tour is Ravensburg, which is close to the lake. the town is known for its towers and gates, not to mention a host of excellent shopping opportunities, so perhaps look out for some souvenirs of your holiday here. Kressbronn is our next stop and here we will take a guided tour of a brewery and enjoy a tasting of local beer. We then continue on to Lindau, whose pretty harbour and pleasant Old Town are situated right on the shores of Lake Constance. Our day is rounded off with a leisurely boat trip to Bregenz in Austria, offering us beautiful scenic views.

The Swiss canton of Graubünden is an area teeming with traditional charm. From Tiefencastel, our included excursion today takes us by train to the beautiful and chic Swiss resort of St Moritz, a regular haunt of the rich and famous.
In the company of your Tour Manager and travelling companions enjoy a stroll through its streets, which are lined with traditional architecture and high-end boutiques, before our return journey by coach. We'll drive via the Julier Pass and medieval Chur, capital of the canton of Graubünden and the oldest city in Switzerland.

After breakfast we'll travel by coach to Rorschach on the Swiss shore of Lake Constance. Here, we'll take a cruise through the Alten Rhein nature reserve to Altenrhein. Next, we'll board a coach and travel to Bregenz, the principal town of Vorarlberg, where we will be taken on a guided tour of the stage and the floating backstage of the Bregenz Festival. Afterwards there's some free time to take a stroll along the shore of the lake or browse the shops. This evening we'll gather as a group to enjoy a farewell get-together and dinner.

At the end of your tour, you can join your fellow travellers on a transfer to the airport or choose to make your own arrangements.
