Itinerary

Meet your fellow travellers over a drink and dinner in Casino di Terra.

Walk 9km - 2.5hrs

Today we will walk to the Balze in Volterra and take in views of these spectacular cliffs created by soil erosion.  After the walk there will be time for you to explore the charming town of Volterra at your own pace. You could choose to visit the Etruscan museum and discover more about the town's history or maybe you'd prefer to watch an alabaster master at work.

We will visit the medieval hilltop town of Certaldo today and enjoy a ride on the funicular. We'll enjoy delightful views of the surrounding countryside and wander around the historic streets.

Walk 9km - 3hrs

Today's walk takes us through the unusual landscape of Devil's Valley in Larderello. In this geologically active area, boiling hot springs rise to the surface, shrouded in billowing white smoke.
Later there will be time to explore the village of Larderello, where you could choose to visit the geothermal museum and learn more about the use of geothermal energy over the years.

San Gimignano and Siena are charming medieval hilltop towns which have barely changed since the Middle Ages. San Gimignano, one of the loveliest towns in Tuscany, is also known as the 'town of beautiful towers' due to the vast numbers that were built here by feuding families as a status symbol in medieval times.

Siena's medieval town centre is one of the most perfectly preserved in Europe. You're sure to be enchanted by the spectacular fan-shaped Piazza del Campo, which is the setting for the exciting and colourful Palio horse race, held twice a year. Discover both towns on today's optional full-day visit.

Walk 9km - 3hrs
Join us on a walk to the little town of Lajatico, the birthplace of opera singer Bocelli. We'll make our way through the beautiful Tuscany hills on foot, and when we arrive in Lajatico we'll see the open-air venue, the Silence Theatre. Bocelli performs a concert here every summer and for the remainder of the year the stage is transformed into a lake.

Today is free for you to enjoy as you wish, or alternatively we offer an optional excursion to Pisa and Lucca. In Pisa we'll see one of Italy's most famous sights, the Leaning Tower, before we continue on to Lucca, a medieval town surrounded by impressive walls.

Your Just You vacation comes to an end today.

Head to Pisa to see its famous Leaning Tower. This bell tower resides in the Field of Miracles beside an amazing collection of religious buildings. Head inside the cathedral to see the marble pulpit created by the great sculptor Giovanni Pisano and nearby you’ll see a bronze lamp that according to a popular story Galileo was watching sway gently when the law of the pendulum occurred to him. Whether this tale is true or not, Galileo grew up here, so surely he was inspired by his surroundings. Continue to the perfectly preserved walled town of Lucca where you’ll find fine examples of medieval and Renaissance architecture, charming piazzas and even a tree-topped tower on a stroll through its historic centre.

Please note: Entrance fees are payable locally at the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the cathedral.
