Day 2 New Year’s Eve, Cheltenham & Bourton-on-the-Water
After breakfast we'll head out for a day of exploration, starting with a guided tour of Cheltenham. The town became one of the country's most fashionable health resorts in 1716 when salt crystals were discovered in a spring just outside the town. Its historic centre is said to make it the most complete Regency town in the whole of England. We'll also visit the delightful Cotswolds town of Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' because of the many attractive low stone bridges crossing the River Windrush, which flows through its centre.
We'll return to the hotel in plenty of time to get dressed up for a special New Year celebration. We'll enjoy dinner with entertainment and a glass of bubbly at midnight.
Day 3 New Year's Day, Cheltenham Races
Today we're going to the races. From the Club/Tattersalls Enclosure we'll be able to study the horses in the paddock, place our bets and watch with excitement as the races get underway. We'll have an excellent view of the course and there are plenty of options for refreshments if you want to enjoy a drink or a meal with your fellow travellers.
We'll return to the hotel later this afternoon, and if you wish you could take a stroll along the famous Cheltenham Promenade to admire the elegant town houses that line it. We’ll gather again this evening for a farewell three-course dinner.
Day 4 Cheltenham
Enjoy a leisurely morning before making your way home later in the day.
