• The La Boca District, a colourful area of Buenos Aires, famous for its brightly decorated houses, once a settlement for immigrants, now an artists' display cabinet. Here you can buy many a sculpture, painting or souvenir.
• Dinner and a show – Famous for the Tango, you won’t have to go far to be entertained. Professional dancers perform in the streets, restaurants and theatres, showcasing their sensual moves. Why not give it a try yourself?
• Iguazu falls - Nothing can quite prepare you for the incredible sight of Iguaçú Falls, set amongst lush rainforest teeming with exotic fauna and flora. The Falls lies along the border of Argentina and Brazil and is worth viewing from both sides.
• Ranch life - a popular tourist attraction is to experience life on a typical Argentinian ranch where you will be herding cattle, riding horses and taking care of the land. After all your hard work you’ll enjoy at traditional BBQ and some well earned Ranch water (tequila soda)

WHAT IS THE FOOD LIKE IN ARGENTINA?

With an abundance of cows on the island (more than people) beef, cheese and milk are three of the main ingredients you will come across.

• Steak is a popular dish of Argentina, usually topped with Chimichurri sauce – a condiment typically made up of olive oil, garlic, parsley, oregano, vinegar and chilli. With the chilli’s in it this sauce gives off a bit of a kick.
• Milanesa – bread crumbed meat. Often chicken, veal or Llama. Broiled till it’s golden brown. Served with chips, eggs or in a sandwich.
• Matambre Arrollado – Translates to the Hunger Killer – a boiled egg wrapped in mixed vegetables and flank steak with herbs and spices – similar to a scotch egg but served as a sliced loaf.
• Llama - as llamas are native to the country you will find lots of Llama based dishes too for example Llama stew – it’s akin to beef but with a earthy tones and significantly less fat.
• Dulce de leche – caramel at its finest –More commonly known to us as carnation crème boiled in the tin till it becomes caramel, this is a delicious filling for many sweet treats in Argentina including being sandwiched between biscuits called Alfajores or mixed with cream to produce a mousse like product called camels drool! What a name, it makes it sound awful, doesn’t it, but trust us on this one…..if you have a sweet tooth and have never tried this then you need to try it now!
• Alfajores – Shortbread biscuits sandwiched together with sweet tasty fillings such as jam, mousse, or dulce de leche and sometimes dipped in chocolate. Argentinians eat the greatest number of alfajores in the world because they are not just a snack to them, but a large part of the Argentinian culture. What a good excuse to eat biscuits!

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO TAKE A SOLO VACATION TO ARGENTINA?

In general there isn’t a best or worst time to visit Argentina, you just need to note that their summer is December to March and their winter is June to August, perfectly the reverse of ours, so when it’s cold here, pop over to Argentina to get warm! Unfortunately everyone has the same idea and as such some areas can get a bit crowded during school holidays, so perhaps check these dates before you book.

The weather in Argentina does however vary by region, so if you plan your trips well you can visit different areas in different months to enjoy the best weather of that region. If you’re a sun worshipper you’ll want to be in Buenos Aires in December to March, but if you want to do some touring, and therefore a cooler day might better suit, then June to August would be ideal.

Although it’s cooler in April, spring brings with it the flourishing of plants and trees such as the famous Jacaranda tree and the Lake District region is thriving with wildflowers – a delight not to be missed.

Patagonia is most manageable from December to March, with it often being snowed in during June to August. Whereas the Iguazu falls benefits from the increased rainfall between June to August as is therefore at it’s most attractive but equally can mean that some of the roads to it become inaccessible.
